The College caters to the need of higher education of large numbers of rural students. The present enrolment is approximately 2,500 the lion's share of which it has accumulated from the said socio-economically backward and tribal communities. As in this wide but marginalized, rural, remote and borderline area there are a number of schools but virtually no college at all, Doomdooma college is compelled to face the pressure of high enrolment with limited infra-structure and intake capacity. Thus right from its inception in 1967, the College singly has been spreading the benefits of Higher Education in a very wide area with a radius of 30 kms on average in all directions.

The College is running Major Courses in various subjects of Arts, Commerce and Science and expects to open its door to more new courses and expand the horizon of existing courses. The college has units of the Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) and Distance Education Study centre under Dibrugarh University (B.A., B.Com & M.A.). The college has also introduced various professional certificate courses like Motor Driving, Cutting, Tailoring & Embroidery, Spoken English, Certificate/Diploma course in Computer Education, UGC sponsored Career Oriented Course along with traditional Degree Courses.

Given the circumstances outlined it becomes self-explanatory that the chances of shining results are quite a few. Still over riding the hurdles of rural backwardness, high enrolment, poor entry-level competence, insufficient infrastructure etc., the College walks on even footing with the University average and every year gets laurelled with more than one first Classes. Many of its products are holding distinguished positions in the state in different fields.
The College has an excellent digitized library with more than 25,000 text books apart from latest reference books, and a good number of journals and periodicals state, national and international status. The library has well-furnished, spacious reading room both for students and teachers separately. E-books and e-journals can be accessed through INFLIBNET-NLIST programme.
It has well-equipped laboratories, namely, Science Laboratory  for the subjects Physics, chemistry, Botany and Zoology, Psychological Laboratory for Education Department, Computer Laboratory and Language Laboratory in English Department. Also, the College is adorned with sophisticated Hostels for Boys and Girls, and NSS unit, Boys and Girls NCC, a well planed in-campus fairly large playground, Basket Ball Court, Handball Court, Network Resource Centre with Internet, well furnished canteen, spacious Auditorium, a 10-Station Multi Gym, Health Cell, Book bank for economically challenged meritorious students, historical and cultural museum in the dept. of History. Further, students can draw benefits from Career Guidance and counseling Cell, Grievance Redressel Cell, Computer Training Course, Womens Cell, Spoken English Certificate Course etc. Besides, the College arranges remedial coaching every year for the students of ST/SC/OBC/MOBC/Minority/economically backward categoried students. It also provides the facilities of Xerox, Internet and fax at concessional rates to students and staffs.



CAMPUS
The College has a beautiful green campus located by the side of NH 37 at a distance of about 3 Kilometers from Doomdooma Town. Located in the midst of pristine nature the sprawling campus ofapproximately 60 Bighas of land bas adequate academic infrastructure with administrative building, Central Library, Departments, Classrooms, Laboratories, Hostels for both Boys and girls, Sports infrastructure, Auditorium, Canteen, Botanical Gardeq, Students Support Services Centre, Cycle-cum-Car stand with much open space inside it.

The College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Assam and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under2(t) and 12B.
